Software Engineer

Zurich, Switzerland

Job code: SE2026

Spur Insights, located in Zurich, Switzerland, develops data science, machine learning, and AI solutions to improve the efficiency and reliability of industrial processes and machinery. Our solutions are widely used by clients in more than 100 countries, supporting manufacturing operations in industries such as plastics, electronics, and converting.

From our office in central Zurich, the Spur Insights Data Science team works closely with clients’ engineering teams. You will join our international team of data scientists to develop and implement back-end and machine-based solutions to efficiently visualize data and insights created through data science algorithms.

As a key member of our software engineering team, you will collaborate closely with data scientists to bring cutting-edge algorithms to life—and into production.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Updating our existing solutions to take full advantage of recent advances in edge-based compute infrastructures, in particular “Docker”
  • Supporting the development of computationally efficient data science algorithms
  • Designing and implementing system architectures for stand-alone, web-based analytics systems, APIs, and back-end integrations, following industry standards such as OPC/UA
  • Integrating data science algorithms on industrial machines using runtime environments
  • Taking a hands-on approach to bring solutions to product readiness by collaborating with external vendors, suppliers, and other stakeholders

We welcome applications from both junior and experienced candidates who are eager to learn about industrial machine engineering, possess strong communication skills, and are motivated to develop products from end to end—from algorithm and architecture design to implementation and launch.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Experience with DevOps practices and containerization tools such as Docker
  • Familiarity with web hosting infrastructure and cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS or Azure
  • Basic understanding of current data science algorithms and the ability to write high-quality code in Python, C, and Java.

Spur fosters a collaborative and innovative environment, making strong teamwork and communication skills essential. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution—or equivalent professional experience—is required.
